Role- Our festivals have a relationship with some season. Dussehra is one of the main autumn festivals. It is celebrated on the tenth day of the Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. On this day, Sri Ram had conquered Lanka Ravana. Therefore it is called Vijayadashami. It is an ethnic festival. It is celebrated not only by Hindus but also by other communities. This is a special festival of Kshatriyas.
Lanka Victory by Rama: :: In the days of Lord Rama’s exile, Ravana took away Sita by deceit. Rama invaded Lanka with the help of Hanuman and Sugriva. A terrible war ensued in which Lord Rama and his followers played brick by brick of Lanka. Kumbhakarna conquered Lanka by killing Meghnad and Ravana. Since then, this day has been celebrated.
Importance – In fact, the festival of Vijayadashami symbolizes the victory of virtue over sin, religion over unrighteousness, victory of truth over untruth. Lord Rama protected Indian culture by destroying the tyrannical and vicious Ravana. Such festivals arouse our valor. Enemies inspire the teeth to sour and protect boundaries.
Apart from this, this day has further significance. Kshatriya kings and traders postponed their journey due to rainy season. They used to close the scriptures and remove them when the autumn comes. Worshiped weapons and intensified them. Traders move to buy goods and then sell at the end of the rainy season. The preacher and sage-mahatma embark on his journey to propagate religion.
Dussehra is the last day of Ramlila. This day is celebrated in different ways in different places. Tables of the characters of Ramayana are drawn in big cities. Ramayana is recited. On Dussehra, paper effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad are made. During the evening, there is an artificial battle between the parties of Rama and Ravana. Crackers etc. are left. People return home with sweets and toys.
Dussehra teaches us many types of education. This inspires to become a patriarchal like Ramchandra ji, fratricide like Lakshmana, patriotism like Sita, and patient and loyal as Hanuman.
Today the greatest need is to create new awakening and new consciousness in the country. Festivals help us in this direction. Vijayadashami inspires us to never bow down to atrocities. Corruption and other social evils ever. Do not bear.
